RN Degree Online LPN To RN, RN To BSN, RN To MSN Programs

If nursing is a field you are considering, there are many educational possibilities for you to pursue. You have to decide what environment you want to work in and to what capacity. A registered nurse generally works in a hospital or medical facility and is the head of the nursing positions, but to become a registered nurse, you also have different degree options.

The minimum degree you need to be eligible for your certification exam is a 2 year associate's degree, which means you can later further your education while already being employed. You can also start out with a lower level of nursing certification and work your way up to becoming a registered nurse. Whichever path you take, you can earn an RN degree online to maximize your time and convenience.

Getting an RN degree online is a very realistic possibility since there are many RN programs online that are offered by schools accredited by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC or NLN). If you want to go directly to becoming a registered nurse, you can apply for an associate's degree online.

You can do this in your spare time, and all lectures and classes are taught to you via web video. You will need to still have an affiliation with a local college because you will still need to complete an externship, but all of your theory studies can be done from home. Your classes will be a variety of science, math and English courses and will include subjects like human anatomy, health assessment in nursing, pharmacology, microbiology and concepts of nursing management.

If you have already achieved your lpn certification and want to pursue becoming an rn, you can also do this via an online bridge course. Lpn to rn courses are widely available and allow you to fill in the missing classes you need to become a registered nurse in about a year.

You won't have to repeat any of the studies you needed to become an lpn and you can do it all from home. The same is true of a licensed paramedic. As long as you graduated from a previous accredited program and are already licensed and practicing in your field, you could be eligible for one of the many online bridge courses.

Similarly, if you already have an rn degree but you only ever got your associate's degree and would now like to advance your studies, you can do an rn to bsn or rn to msn online course. Through these bridge programs, registered nurses who never pursued their full college degrees have the chance to either get their bachelor's of science, or if you already have it, your master's of science degree online in your spare time without having to stop working.

A master's degree in nursing is designed for professionals who want to specialize to move up the career ladder, often in management or research positions. You can most likely complete an RN to MSN online program in less than 3 years, depending on the pace you study.

You will complete about 24 regular semester bridge hours in nursing and then move on to studying the speciality of your choice. Earning your bachelor's or master's degree in nursing is a good idea for anyone with ambitions of climbing higher in the field, and doing bridge classes online cuts your time and inconvenience.

There are many possibilities of getting an rn degree online. You can get an associate's degree online straight from highschool and then do further online bridge programs to get your bachelor's or master's degrees, or you could start out in another area of nursing or health care and do online classes to move you into registered nursing. Whatever your choice is, there are many accredited options for you that will make your life much easier.
